Quick Getaways for the Whole Family

Tupelo, Mississippi 
Haven’t visited Tupelo in a while? You’d be surprised how much this sleepy town has grown over the last few years. From mural tours and Elvis’ Birthplace Museum to Mississippi-brewed mead and funky eateries - Tupelo has something for the entire family. Kick-off this road trip with breakfast at Brick & Spoon then spend your day searching for murals in downtown and visiting one of the many antique shops or thrift stores. For lunch, pick up some King Chicken, Fillin' Station’s famous fried chicken, then head over to Queen’s Reward Meadery to pair it with some mead brewed with Mississippi. Spend your afternoon at the Tupelo Drive-Thru Zoo, The Elvis Presley Birthplace Museum, and a music-filled meal at the Blue Canoe.

Hamilton, AL
Is there any other place in the world where you can explore the longest natural bridge east of the Rockies AND have a look at Alabama-made pottery that’s featured all over the world? Hamilton is home to Brown’s Pottery and Sons, who’s pottery has been featured throughout the world, including in the Smithsonian Institute. Stop by for a look at their unique pottery that makes for an educational, insightful, and fun trip for your whole family. 

While you’re on the way there, make sure to stop by the Natural Bridge. Just a short detour away, this picturesque natural bridge is perfect for the nature-lover of the family. There are picnic tables, a gift shop, and even a scenic hike on the property. 

Mentone, AL 
This little mountain town that is really having a moment is just a hop, skip, and a jump from Athens, Alabama. Mentone is a small, Northeastern Alabama Mountain town that’s just as quiet as it is charming, and boasts some of Alabama’s most scenic landscapes and spectacular views. Check out all of the nearby natural attractions such as Desoto State Park and Little River Falls. Get a taste of the town at the Wildflower Cafe or Green Leaf Grill.
